Yo no pienso perdérmela ¿Y vosotros?

Animal Love

que he trabajado (Basler, Gerry Weber)...

BASLER Otoño-Invierno 2012-2013

I've just read that animal print is trend this winter... Let me think...
Has this trend ever disappeared? because as long as I can remember,
I have always seen items with this print in different collections. I remember
one Moschino's shirt I bought at least 15 years ago... And that every single
collection from German firms that I've been working for so long as a model
(Basler, Gerry Weber) include this print...
So you know: this autumm-winter, animal print is a "must-have" If you already
have it, use it (it doesn't care when you bought it. Don't forget it in your closet);
if not, buy something... but with intelligence. No doubt, you'll be able to use and
reuse this item  ;)

Naomi Campbell, Ebony Goddess

What can I tell you about Naomi Campbell that you don't know... Ebony Goddess... Black Panther of the catwalks...
Born in 1970, nowadays she is still one of the queens of catwalks and publicity. She is well-known by her sculpted body and her overflowing beauty, but also by her bad temper and her notorious romances.

Scouted at the age of 15, in 1987 she became the first black model on the cover of  British Vogue since 1966; and one year later she appeared on the cover of French Vogue, after her friend and mentor, designer Yves St. Laurent, threatened to withdraw his advertising from the magazine if it continued to refuse to place black models on its cover. It was obvious that little girl, who was featured at the age of 7  in the music video for Bob Marley's "Is This Love", was intended for succeed because of her beauty.

Exotic beauty, born in London, she is an Afro-Jamaican and Chinese descent, scouted  while window-shopping in Covent Garden. She was part of a trio of models (the others being Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista) known as "The Trinity", who became the most recognisable and in-demand models of their generation. Even Linda and Christy threatened Dolce&Gabbana "If you don't use Naomi, you don't get us" and finally Naomi worked with them.

The Trinity
Her friendship has lasted till today; even, in 2009, Linda and Naomi featured Dsquared Spring-Summer Collection, where they were fighting each other. They look marvellous.

D-squared
But not only she has showcased the creations of top designers, she is featured in music videos as George Michael's "Freedom '90" and, later, in Michael Jackson's "In the Closet" Here you can see the video's making-of, shot in California's desert.

Despite her success, however, Elite Model Management, which had represented Campbell since 1987, fired her, on the grounds that "no amount of money or prestige could further justify the abuse" to staff and clients. Elite founder John Casablancas described her as "manipulative, scheming, rude, and impossible."
We also could see her provocatively posing  in Madonna's controversial book "Sex"...
She wrote a novel, "Swan", about a supermodel dealing with blackmail, but it was ghostwritten by Caroline Upcher, with Campbell explaining that she "just did not have the time to sit down and write a book" That same year, Campbell released her album "Babywoman", named after designer Rifat Ozbek's nickname for her. And even, with Claudia Schiffer and Elle MacPherson, she invested in an ill-fated chain of restaurants called "The Fashion Cafe"
Model, singer, business-woman... but this is not everything in her life: she is involved with several charitable causes. Campbell has been outspoken against the racial bias that exists in the fashion industry;  she supports the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund; she also supports Breakthrough Breast Cancer (her mother has battled breast cancer); she founded the charity We Love Brazil, which aims to raise awareness and funds to fight poverty in Brazil through the sale of fabrics made by local women;  she founded the charity Fashion for Relief, which has organised fund-raising fashion shows to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the India terrorist attacks in 2009, the Haiti earthquake in 2010, and the Japan earthquake in 2011.

And her love life... what about her love life..? Mike Tyson, Robert de Niro, Adam Clayton, Joaquín Cortés, Flavio Briatore, Badr Jafar and, finally till today, russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin.

She says that the the difficulty of her temper is due to the abscene of her father, that she never met because he abandoned her mother when she was four months pregnant... and she should add that drugs exacerbated it. Campbell was accused ten times of committing acts of violence against employees, associates, and, in one instance, police officers. Maybe she, in an attempt to recoup of that so explosive character,  was decided to share  a bit of her time and of her money with the needest ones. As she recognize in Interview Magazine: "I make many mistakes. Many mistakes. So I always get nervous when people speak about something that sounds like a role model, because I don’t know if I’ve been a great role model myself. I don’t think I have in certain aspects of my life"

She is 41 years-old. Hypnotic, beautiful to the core

Loewe: Excellence and Tradition

A few weeks ago I had the chance of going to the annual dinner that Loewe prepares very year for its friends and workers. I must say that the decoration was lovely, 'cause all the figures that represent this brand were there as if they were another guests.
In this event we were told about the new shops all around the world; the best workers and the oldest ones were honoured; they talked about the year's sales and,of course,it was a very positive number... And, finally, we ended up with a dance session that toured the greatest hits of all  times.
The story of this brand goes back to 1846, year in which a group of Spanish craftsmen opened a leather goods workshop in the most commercial district in Madrid (Spain), Lobo street (later Echegaray Street) In 1872, Enrique Loewe Roessberg, a German craftsman specialized in leather, arrived to Madrid and decided to join forces with the leather workshop owners and establish the brand, creating Loewe. But it was 20 years later when the brand began to be known  among the general public, becoming even"Official Supplier to the Spanish Royal Crown," (title given to the family by King Alfonso XIII)

Towards the end of the 1960s, Loewe marked the beginning of its international expansion: Great Britain (1963), Japan (1973)...  So Loewe's success and development is not something accidental nor recent, but it comes from long time ago, due to the great work of its team and the quality of its products.
In 1987 Loewe reached an agreement with the luxury goods group LVMH to strengthen the international expansion of the firm and, finally, in 1996,celebrating the brand’s 150 year anniversary, LVMH took over the ownership of the brand.

Loewe Amazona is the most representative series handbags. It is a symbol of women’s freedom and it was born in the 70’s when modern women were breaking the social, cultural, political barriers. Since then, it has been reinventing itself  without losing a drop of its glamour and modernity.

But Loewe is not limited to leather goods...

It has a wide range of fragances:"Agua azul", "Aire", "I Loewe You", "Gala" and "Quizás, quizás, quizás", among others, for women.
Its latest male perfume is called"7 Loewe" and its name references to the 7 deadly sins, the 7 Wonders of the world, the 7 colors of the rainbow and the 7 cosmic laws. 7 is a magic number, halfway between the human side and the divine one, between the perfection and the imperfection. The blue of its bottle was carefully selected to correspond to a color called "Peacock Blue" which is one used to color the matador's costume of lights; not in vain, its image is Cayetano Rivera, a Spanish matador, son of one of the greatest matadors of all times, Paquirri. For Loewe, the figure who can best represent these values is the figure of the torero: bullfighter's masculinity is intertwined with the delicacy of his movements, which represent the feminine. Likewise, the bullfighter represents a modern man who adapts to the  present times without losing their roots. Who can represent this Spanish brand better than a bullfighter of caste and family...
But Loewe is more than these. It also counts with  Women and Men Ready-To-Wear collections, highly valued, primarily,,for its leather garments and among its designers are names as Narciso Rodriguez and Jose Enrique Oña Selfa.

In 1988, the Loewe Foundation was created. This foundation, led by Enrique Loewe, promotes new values in poetry, dance, music and desing.

Loewe represents style, class...quality and tradition... the excellence... Loewe is a Spanish brand that has learned how to adapt itself to these changing times and I believe that there will be Loewe for a long, long time.
